Recent Mentor Hours

Last week I got surgery, but I'm so dedicated that I still dragged myself to New York to complete more hours. This was on a Sunday so when I got off the train I walked down to 38th st where all the fabric and trimming stores are and met my mentor there. Every single store was closed but we ended up finding a store that was open and literally had everything. I bought a zipper, some studs, a yard of black lace, and some needles and thread. We found shirts to buy and decorate at Conway and Century 21. Then we got on the subway and went back to her appartment to start making stuff. I studded a shirt while she set up the other shirts so its easy for me to sew. Then that time came where I had to go meet my moms friend because I was staying with her for the night. Then we went out to dinner and I got steak. It was bomb.

I need to finish my product!! So far I have a shirt that I added studs to. Now, I need to sew the zippers and lace onto the t-shirts I have but I am reallllly bad at it. I have more studs to add to stuff. I just dont knwo what to add them to now. It might look weird making like 100 of the same style shirt. #lost

And I rearrange ornaments on my tree to make my mom mad. But actually this is about how I added studs to a shirt and wore it to school and ROCKED it. Part one of my product= done. Also I finished I believe 12 hours of my mentor hours. It was pretty fun this time, just like always. We made clothes this time.

So I'm on my way to New York to continue with my mentor hours. I think we're just making clothes and stuff, well I hope we are partly because I need to get going on my product and partly because I don't want to walk a lot. So on this train ride I'm going to tear Pinterest, Etsy, and Google apart until I have a solid amount of ideas. Lets see how this works. Oh and I will not be in school Monday because ill be stuck in New York wandering around doing nothing. I promise no mentor hours will be completed at that time.

I need more time..

Can I like buy more time? I literally have none. Like none. I feel like I need to go down during a school day just to like get the things to make my product.

Thats what I need to do, actually get everything done. I feel like I won't have time to in the next month but I have to. Okay I think that is it.

What else to do on the train besides blog?

One thing that came out of my practicum today was that I think I have another product idea. I liked the sweater idea, and nothing at all against mrs.halls sister but I think this might be a little better for me considering my schedule for the next month. So, I'm either going to do "The Evolution of a T-shirt" or just taking simple tops and making them my own, and maybe selling them if people like then. But basically, the t shirt idea is that I take like five of the same exact tshirt and make it interesting in five different ways. One with spikes on it, one with an added zipper, one with a sheer back, maybe one with some kind of cool trim...I haven't decided. Or I might just take any kind of simple top and add things to it to make them look awesome. We went into a ton of fabric stores and stores that just sell buttons, studs, trims, and any other thing you might add to any price of clothing. Those stores made me want to start right now. But I'm on the train so I can't just whip out a sewing machine and some trims...and I don't know how to sew...or do any of this stuff actually, so that will be a learning stretch. I've never tried to transform and kind of clothing. I'm really really excited to do this though.
